Physical activity is important for a healthy lifestyle. There are tools which can help monitor and record physical activities of varying degree. It can be as simple as walking around the block to participating in a triathlon. Everyone has different experience levels and different stages when it comes to working out.
I find the most difficult thing about exercise is motivation and time management. It can be easily put off due to a busy and changing schedule. Sometimes we look for an opportune time to start: New Years, finding a workout buddy, bad visit to the doctor. If that is what you’re waiting for, then it just might not come. The best thing to do is to just start.
Staying motivated is also difficult as you face difficult times: by not seeing results fast enough, breaking past a goal or dealing with pain from exercising. Set small but attainable goals and reward yourself. Another great motivational tool is competition. Compete with friends to stay motivated to see who can lose the most weight, or run a 5k the fastest because, let’s face it, no one likes to lose.
This is where Honor comes in! During the last half of Summer July 31, 2018 - August 31, 2018, we are launching a “Get Fit with Honor” contest. Where, as a community, we work together to live a more healthy lifestyle and get back into shape or just to improve our fitness level. This is not a place to put each other down, but a positive place to encourage and push each other to improve ourselves.
We will have multiple categories which you can participate in (but can only participate in one).
Be honest with yourself when it comes to the Road Runners or the Neighborhood Strollers. Push yourself, dare to try new things
Road Runners: For users who run 30+ miles a week
Neighborhood Strollers: For users just starting out walking or jogging
Peddling to victory: For those who enjoy bike riding
Slimming down: For users wanting to focus on losing weight
How to Participate
Simply create an account, then after every exercise; screenshot the results and post the screenshot in this thread with what group you want to be apart of. If you use a treadmill, elliptical, cycling machine, then take a photo of your results following your workout. Your workout screenshots must contain: the date/time, distance and duration. (You do not need to use a Honor phone or fitness band to participate).
For Slimming down, first share your current weight as a baseline and to indicate you’ll be participating in this group. Share a photo of the scale that includes the current date, time and your weight.
Each group will have a winner. You can only win once
Winners of each group will be based on points acquired for each exercise. For every mile biked/ran/walked or pound lost, you’ll receive 1 point (no partial points for unfinished whole miles). For every half hour you exercise, you’ll also receive 1/2 point. For example, if you walk 3 miles and it takes you 1.5 hours, you will receive 4.5 points.
A random winner will be selected at the end of contest. Every point you earn, grants one entry into the random drawing.
